Summertime Favorite

As we all begin preparing for the upcoming hunting seasons, now is the perfect time to kick back with your buds and begin planning upcoming hunts and strategies.  Typically I like to do this enjoying some frosty beverages and venison.  One of my all-time favorites is venison tenderloins wrapped in bacon, smothered in BBQ sauce.

To start, take a frozen back strap and cut “hockey puck” sizes of strips.  Next, marinate them in your favorite marinade and spices for 24 hours in you fridge.  I personally like the liquid smoke flavor.  Pre-heat your grill on medium (or 350).  Wrap bacon around the perimeter of the pucks, holding them in place with tooth-picks.  Use 2 slices of bacon if required.  Cook the meat until the bacon is ready, use this as your gauge for when the meat is ready.  About 5 minutes before you are ready to serve, smother each portion with your favorite BBQ sauce.  Remove from the grill and enjoy!
