Summertime Favorite
Friday, July 24, 2009 15:52As we all begin preparing for the upcoming hunting seasons, now is the perfect time to kick back with your buds and begin planning upcoming hunts and strategies. Typically I like to do this enjoying some frosty beverages and venison. One of my all-time favorites is venison tenderloins wrapped in bacon, smothered in BBQ sauce.
To start, take a frozen back strap and cut “hockey puck” sizes of strips. Next, marinate them in your favorite marinade and spices for 24 hours in you fridge. I personally like the liquid smoke flavor. Pre-heat your grill on medium (or 350). Wrap bacon around the perimeter of the pucks, holding them in place with tooth-picks. Use 2 slices of bacon if required. Cook the meat until the bacon is ready, use this as your gauge for when the meat is ready. About 5 minutes before you are ready to serve, smother each portion with your favorite BBQ sauce. Remove from the grill and enjoy!
