How Hunters Can Leverage Twitter

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 21:39

ico_twitterTwitter is a microblogging service that only allows users to type a maximum of 140 characters.  Twitter allows hunters to post status updates from the web, text messaging, or their smartphone.  You can also follow any person on Twitter as long as their profile is public (99% of profiles are public).  In the past year, celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher and Oprah have made the service very popular by tweeting with their fans.

So how can hunters leverage a technology like this?  First, update your status by keeping everyone up-to-date on where you are hunting, what times you will be hunting, who you are hunting with, how you are making out in the field/woods, bragging about your trophy, etc.  By using a Twitter client called TweetDeck on your iPhone, you can post your location and take pictures, directly uploading them to your Twitter account.

You can also use Twitter as a communication tools to keep in touch with hunters you met over the years, outfitters you hunted with in the past, and keep up to date with hunting information and products.  You can follow FieldJournals on Twitter @FieldTweets.
